Universitätsklinikum Münster
The University Hospital Muenster (UKM) has a special clinical focus on inflammation, both by providing excellent care for patients and also fostering outstanding research activites in this field. The Department of Pediatric
Rheumatology and Immunology at the UKM is the only independent Pediatric department at a university hospital in Germany that is fully dedicated to rheumatic and immunologic diseases. UKM has established a multidisciplinary team with regular conferences, rounds and audits to documentat PIO-specific mortalities and complications; Policies and procedures for patient management are established via this structure, including the assessment of outcome and complications.
The clinical service is geared towards caring for children, adolescents and adults with rare autoinflammatory and autoimmune diseases, and immunodeficiencies. Patients are mostly referred from a large catchment area in Northwestern Germany. There are several experienced senior staff physicians. Outpatient clinics are available Monday through Friday 8:30AM-S:OOPM, and consult services are available around the clock. Inpatients are treated in collaboration with the the other departments and experts at the UKM. Furthermore, the UKM is a tertiary referral center offering a full complement of other clinical and diagnostic services, including radiology,
nuclear medicine, laboratory medicine, microbiology, pathology and other pediatric, medical and surgical subspecialties. The Department is therefore able to provide complete medical care even for the most complex patients.
