University Medical Center Utrecht – Adult unit

At both a national and international level, UMC Utrecht is a recognized expertise centre for a broad range of (rare) rheumatological, immunological and auto-inflammatory conditions. For these disease entities, UMCU offers all diagnostic modalities, as well as all treatment and necessary follow up options, and further also chemical, functional, genetic and all radiological diagnostics, as well as treatment options including regular treatment, immunosuppressive treatment with (newest) biologicals, and cellular therapies including stem cell transplantation.

One of the strengths of UMCU is the fact that it covers the whole range of rheumatological, immunological and auto-inflammatory disorders, and that it has a multidisciplinary approach in care for their patients. In a dedicated team of well-educated specialists, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, orthopaedic physicians and physical therapists, combined medical care is provided. The patients are offered multidisciplinary consultations, which ensure optimal efficiency for the patient and is optimal for the health care professional (short communication lines). This is in place for all types of disorders described above, for both paediatric and adult patients.

For chronic diseases, there are so-called transition consultations in place to ensure a smooth transition from pediatric to adult health care providers.
