University Medical Center Ljubljana (UMCL) is the largest and most research-intensive hospital in Slovenia.

University Children’s Hospital Ljubljana (UCHL) is an integral part of the UMCL and is the largest centre dedicated to improving children’s health in the country with a long history of clinical and research excellence serving as the national and regional tertiary referral centre for paediatric patients from Central and South Eastern European countries.

Department of Allergology, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology is part of the UCHL and provides comprehensive multidisciplinary services for children with inflammatory paediatric rheumatic diseases. The service includes emergency care, paediatric subspecialities and easy access and close relationships with other relevant specialities such as imaging, specialized laboratory medicine, immunology laboratory, pathology and molecular genetics. Other care teams that are included or work closely with the department are specialised nurses, paediatric nutritionists, physical and occupational therapists, soclal worker, and psychologist.

The department is formally recognized as a tertiary care centre and is the only referral centre for patients with paediatric rheumatic diseases in Slovenia. Patients from Central and South Eastern European countries are also regularly referred for evaluation and management at the UCHL. The centre is integrated within the national, regional and international networks including PRES, PRINTO, SHARE, Pharmachild, Eurofever and UCAN-U.
